When: Sat. April 2nd, 12:00 pm
Where: East Elmwood Community Centre, 490 Keenleyside St, Winnipeg
Cost: $10 (cash only)
Dress code: Dobuk & protective equipment (mouth guard, shin/arm/groin guards, helmet, hogu)
All belt levels welcome. No experience necessary.
Led by Master Park, an NCCP-certified national coach, participants will be led through a series of sparring drills, followed by practice. The KP&P equipment will be on display and a short demonstration of the system will take place with high performance athletes.
In addition to this, there will also be an opportunity to talk to nationally certified coaches and officials about the pathways to certification. Board members will also be available to talk to and to answer questions regarding the organization.
12:00-1:30 pm: drills and skills, including reviewing sparring rules, and sparring in the dojang vs. sparring for competition
1:30-3:00 pm: sparring practice
Full protective equipment is mandatory for sparring.
Remember to bring your water bottle, snacks, pen & paper.
Officials are welcome to participate (admission and membership required) and can practice officiating as center referee during the informal sparring matches. Referees can wear their Taekwondo Manitoba referee t-shirt and black pants with indoor athletic shoes. (A plain black t-shirt is also acceptable.) The KP&P system will be used for parts of the event.
